C Major Scale with Rhythm

One of the most difficult aspects of playing steel drums is the complicated rhythms associated with Caribbean music — especially Soca and Calypso melodies, or the common patterns.  So, it's never too early to start thinking about rhythm!  In the following video we play a fairly easy rhythm on each note of the C Major Scale to help you get more comfortable with the various patterns.

It is very import to play scales on the steel drum.  Listen for an even, balanced sound the whole time.  Don't let the low notes get loud and the high notes quiet.  Keep it consistent!  Members can access many more videos like this one!
